Some early football treats . . .and nightmares

Well, we’re now two weeks into the college football season and one week into the NFL season.  Since I rarely watched football in Bolivia, I’m VERY excited to be here this fall and able to take in the games.  This weekend I got to watch the Michigan-Notre Dame football game, which was one of the best games I have seen in quite awhile.  It was back and forth the whole game and then Michigan scored with :22 left in the game to win it 38-34.

Then a huge surprise came yesterday, the Broncos produced a play that was absolutely incredible, probably up there with “the catch” from that fabled 1994 CU-Michigan game:

So the Broncos are 1-0 to start the season . . .woo hoo!

As for the Buffs, they have lost two consecutive games to start the season.  The first game was a heartbreaking loss to CSU, but they were outplayed the entire game.  Later Buffs players admitted they were maybe overlooking the game.  Then this past Friday, Toledo took what dignity they had left and handed it to them in a 54-38 shellacking.  After that game CU now ranks 111th out of 120 in total defense.  Things better shape up and fast or they will not win a game all season in the mighty Big 12.  The bright spot from the game though is that the offense played much better and was able to come back at one point to within 13 mid way into the 3rd quarter, but the defense just couldn’t hang with the pass happy rockets of Toledo.
